Senior Odoo Developer – Public Sector Digitalization Project – Freelance

Duration: 10 months (renewable)

Location: Brussels

Work mode: Hybrid – 3 to 5 days/week on site

About the Mission

A major public-sector organization is launching a large-scale digitalization program to modernize and optimize its real estate and asset-management workflows on Odoo v18.

In this role, you will lead the technical and functional implementation of the platform, transforming complex operational processes into a streamlined, integrated and efficient Odoo ecosystem.

This mission is ideal for a senior Odoo specialist who wants to drive a high-impact transformation with long-term strategic visibility inside a public institution.

Your Responsibilities

1. Analyse & Model Business Processes

• Review and refine existing functional “As-Is / To-Be” documentation.
• Translate business processes into Odoo v18 functional flows and data structures.
• Challenge and improve proposed workflows where necessary.

2. Configure Odoo Modules

You will configure the modules required to support:

• Real estate or asset lifecycle management
• Prospection and onboarding workflows
• Property sheet creation and maintenance
• Lifecycle status transitions
• Publication of assets to an external website through API
• Automated notifications and validation flows
• Mapping and geolocation integrations (e.g., global mapping providers)

3. Develop or Coordinate Custom Features

• Oversee Python/XML customizations when standard configuration is insufficient.
• Manage REST API integrations with external platforms.
• Guide the creation of custom dashboards and domain-specific UX improvements.

4. Data Migration

• Oversee migration from the legacy real estate database.
• Ensure data consistency, accuracy and adherence to validation rules.

5. Deploy Automated Workflows

• Define approval chains, automated triggers and notification logic.
• Ensure smooth cross-module interactions across operational teams.

6. Ensure High-Quality Delivery

• Lead functional and technical testing.
• Prepare documentation, handover and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate closely with the internal project team.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical

• Odoo v18 – Expert
• Python – Advanced
• PostgreSQL – Intermediate
• REST API – Intermediate
• GIT – Advanced
• Experience with XML views, workflows, and modular architecture

Functional

• Experience in real estate, asset management, or operational lifecycle processes
• Familiarity with public-sector environments
• Experience with geolocation or GIS integrations (e.g., mainstream mapping tools)
• Experience publishing Odoo content to external websites

Languages

• Native or bilingual proficiency in Dutch or French
